Mr. Kalu, a twelve year veteran of the National Football League, played in the NFL from 1997-2008. In addition, to his athletic accomplishments, he is a graduate from Rice University, with a degree in English. While still playing in the NFL, Mr. Kalu completed a special entrepreneurship program at the Wharton Business School, The Kellogg School of Management, and became a Licensed Texas Real Estate Broker. He is very involved with several charitable organizations such as; Kalu 4 Kids, NFL to Nigeria and Football Camp with the Pros. Intrigued by real estate, in June of 2003 he co-founded Benford-Kalu Investments, LLC, along with college teammate and friend Thomas Benford. BK invests in residential real estate properties in the Greater Houston area. In 2007 Mr. Kalu formed The Kalu Group which invests and operates in the acquisition, rehabilitation, management, and sale of properties in both Texas and Pennsylvania.

 
After retiring from the NFL in 2009, N.D. was able to take his vast knowledge and experience of multiple sports, coupled with his unrivalled, "gift of gab", to various media outlets.
 
N.D. Kalu and his former Philadelphia Eagles teammate Bobby Taylor have combined efforts to conduct seasonal, instructional, football camps.
